Co-creation Strategies with Local Communities
Sustainability
Approach
To help achieve regional decarbonization and regional revitalization, we will strengthen collaboration with local governments and contribute to the development of a sustainable local society by providing solutions that make the most of regional characteristics.
External Environment
The challenges and underlying needs faced by each region are wide-ranging and diverse. By strengthening collaboration with local communities and promoting the introduction of EVs, the development of car-sharing infrastructure, and the adoption of renewable energy, we support the decarbonization of local communities while simultaneously advancing regional revitalization.
Current Situation and Challenges
As efforts to reduce CO2 emissions intensify, decarbonization initiatives by local governments are becoming increasingly important. While the development of knowledgeable human resources, the wider adoption of renewable energy and energy-saving facilities, and the expansion of decarbonization-related investments are essential, challenges such as limited resources and regional differences remain. To address these issues, collaboration among local governments, financial institutions, and companies is indispensable, and initiatives that simultaneously solve regional challenges and promote regional revitalization are required.

Co-Creation with Stakeholders
To support the decarbonization efforts of local governments, SMAS has entered into comprehensive partnership agreements with various municipalities toward the realization of Zero-Carbon Cities, and is advancing initiatives through collaborative efforts. These initiatives digitize the management of government-owned vehicles and promote the optimization of the number of vehicles by visualizing operational status. In doing so, we reduce administrative workload and support municipal decarbonization by proposing the introduction of EVs using surplus funds generated through cost optimization.
In addition, we actively participate in a variety of municipal programs and initiatives, and promote engagement with the SDGs through information exchange with local companies aimed at generating new business opportunities. SMAS is currently participating in the activities of 20 municipalities nationwide.
Furthermore, we also conduct donation activities through SDGs Lease Mirai 2030® (Donation Type)*. SDGs Lease Mirai 2030® (Donation Type) is a leasing scheme in which part of the lease payment is donated, with the customer's agreement, to NPO corporations, general incorporated associations, and other organizations that contribute to the achievement of the SDGs.
SMAS will continue working to resolve the various challenges faced by local communities together with local companies and municipalities, as we strive to become a mobility platform provider for a sustainable society.
